Looking Good, Feeling Good

Looking Good, Feeling Good

Why more people from Bromley are investigating cosmetic dentistry.

Until relatively recently, many people probably considered cosmetic dental treatments to be for the rich and famous only. We have all become accustomed to seeing Hollywood stars and other celebrities posing for the camera with a perfect smile but probably thought that this was something that was unattainable for the rest of us.

Times change though, and an increasing number of our patients from Bromley are now attending Smile Dental Practice for cosmetic procedures.

A better smile, a better life?

The most obvious benefit of improving your smile is simply that it improves your appearance and most people want to look as good as they possibly can. Of course, we are not all God’s gift to beauty but that shouldn’t mean that we don’t want to do what we can to look good.

A more hidden benefit though, as many of our patients have mentioned to us, is that of an improvement in the feeling of general well being.

Patients have noted how their life has changed for the better since undergoing cosmetic dentistry – and confidence is one of the biggest gains to be made it would seem.

With the confidence to smile again, patients have reported that people have warmed to them more easily than before. It is said that a smile is an indicator of the person that we are, so it should probably come as no surprise that a warm welcoming smile does seem to help invite people into our lives.

This can open up the way to new friendships, relationships and possibly even better job prospects.

The procedures

Whilst a number of dental procedures may be considered cosmetic, there are perhaps three key ones which are predominantly used as part of a smile makeover.

Teeth whitening

At the Smile Dental Practice in Bromley, we use the Zoom teeth whitening method. This combination of an in house treatment and home whitening maintenance offers a great way to have whiter teeth for a longer period of time.

Dental veneers

Where teeth are very badly stained, such as in a heavy long term smoker, or are chipped and cracked, dental veneers may be used to, in effect, to create a new tooth surface that is whiter and undamaged.

In some cases, veneers may also be used to close gaps between the front teeth (diastema).

Orthodontics

Having whiter teeth is a good thing but if your teeth are crooked and uneven, they will only serve to draw attention to this fact. For this reason, some patients choose to have their teeth straightened prior to any whitening treatment.

Through the use of Invisalign orthodontics or the Inman Aligner, patients are able to have their teeth straightened efficiently and in a discreet manner.
